Submission Transcription
I know that the colonisers called our precious country terras nullius. I know that First Peoples were majorly mistreated, tortured and killed. I know that First Peoples were considered flora and fauna and not counted as part of the population until some years after colonisation.
It was in now way comprehensive. I was in the Victorian school system from 1987 until 1999. All I was taught was that First Peoples have boomerangs, didgeridoos and hunted for their own food. It was only in 1997, year 10 when I learnt about the stolen generations through a debating topic, not from a formal lesson at school.
Better education about First Peoples in primary and secondary schools.
