Angela Clarke
Angela Clarke is familiar with the devastating ongoing impacts of colonisation on Victorian First Peoples. She notes that her education on First Nations history and culture was not comprehensive, learning mostly through self-education. Angela calls for a proper structure for hearing directly from Indigenous people on issues like health, social welfare, housing, and education. She suggests arts projects, joint land and water care initiatives, memorial events, and better education to promote understanding and respect.

I am familiar with the devastating ongoing impacts of colonisation on Victorian First Peoples.
No it was not comprehensive. Most of what I have learnt is through self education, reading, museums, documentaries, site visits and speaking with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people.
Having a proper structure for hearing directly from Indigenous people about how they want to approach the issues that face them particularly in relation to health, social welfare, housing, and education.
Through arts projects. Through joint projects/land & water care initiatives with First Peoples, governments and wider community. Memorial events – grieving circles. Making space for nonFirst Nations people to educate themselves together and understand the impacts without retraumatising First Nations people.
