What do you know about the colonisation of Victoria and its impacts on First Peoples?

Im 72, I have come to understand more over the last twenty years than I ever was aware of when I was at primary and high school. I had no idea about colonisation or its impacts we were told and taught nothing in regards to this..i have become an active ally, learning more and sharing what I am learning . Deep inside me as I recall my adolescence I always felt there’d been injustice to first nations people but had no one to discuss this with or find any answers to gain knowledge, until mabe the tent embassy establishing then through their the activism , The awful history and Truth telling must be foremost and treaty is imperitive. Always was Always Will Be Aboriginal Land!

What has been your experience learning about First Nations history and culture in Victoria's education system? Do you feel it was comprehensive?

I am longing to learn more and see language return, so I can learn more and for my children and grandchildren’s experience. History and culture should b part of every education system across the lands starting in kindergarten

What changes would you like to see in Victoria to promote better understanding and respect for First Peoples cultures?

First people taking charge of all history and culture areas so the truth and facts and experiences come from the source. But also sovereignty and land back!

In what ways do you think non-First Nations Victorians can contribute to the process of truth-telling and treaty?

Stay loud and proud and keep getting that truth telling out into the masses

Stay loud and proud and keep getting that truth telling out into the masses
