I witness my mum struggling still to this day at almost 60 without family ties. She was just a baby … months old when taken, Shes lucky to know siblings whom rekindled at … days, She was basically forced into a underage relationship with a white man much older. Then she consist of caring for the … boys alone with friends and family around Fitzroy. My mothers quality of life or life in general has been ripped to shreads. She has … sibling.
Apparently Mums parents came to visit at … once or twice. Then never again due to restrictions government had on people on missions and train ticket was impossible. My Nan’s health declined dramatically and became impossible. My mum thought her mum didn’t like her. Her father continued to visit as much. But only little recorded of what was happening at that time. I don’t know alot but I know that it’s a generation struggle, I know battle with my own mental health issues, wondering what the purpose for us is and how the government could do such injustice to my mum and family then expect me to get up and join in their schools and towns and I have to, following the rules.
We Walk in this world white man doesn’t want me in, loud and proud, The injustice I feel towards the government for making me live with such resentment and hardship, from primary school to the next There was no support or real education to what happened to my people.
I am only know learning as an adult, what I learnt I school was shameful, soon as they’d olopen history book and talk of hunting and gathering all the other kids would look around to see where the koorie kid is and its sad. Sad we don’t know more, at that age. For strengh and courage because one It’s not out fault we got massacred not our fault we don’t have grandparents that date back like the other white kids do. There is so much imbalance how are we suppose to be connected to the system when it keeps us down. Emotionally and Physically. Barriers and UN resolved conflicts.
More education, Youth groups Women’s groups men’s groups Should All have a short process to go through of understanding and applying our new knowledge into our day to day, keeping the topic of knowledge to understand where we were and why, as to where we are now and why, then Where we want to be as First Nations Peoples, the comfort we want for our kids when they’re in a groups setting, such as class school or even sporting events even a cinema. We should feel welcomed, instead I get the feeling that I shouldn’t be there, by barrier throughout my life and the ones I will continue to have Originate and Stem from a system that didn’t want me and my family around.
Maybe We should go back to square one. And write small stories, giving wisdom and stench to the younger ones. Stories that tell one another of the injustice, It’s one thing to be bullied it’s another to stand up and say you had no right to take my things hurt my people and force me here to walk in your shadow. Na I want recognition, change, and I mean people need to change the way they look at me and my people. I’m 30 yrs. I have every reason to be happy thanks to my strong staunch family, they pushed me to live in this world regardless of how much white fellas push ya away I will continue to gain education frm where I need to using the white man’s world to do so and I will change as much as I can for my younger generation to then feel comfortable to find the tools needed to make a good life for themselves too.
