What do you know about the colonisation of Victoria and its impacts on First Peoples?

I have read a number of recent historical accounts of the invasion of Victoria

What has been your experience learning about First Nations history and culture in Victoria's education system? Do you feel it was comprehensive?

It is over 60 years since I finished high school. while I have difficulty remembering what I heard at school and what my family told me, the education system component would have been very shallow.

What changes would you like to see in Victoria to promote better understanding and respect for First Peoples cultures?

I see positive developments in Victoria in people’s understanding of the invasion and of First Peoples cultures. Rather than suggesting changes I would like to see further promotion of this understanding.

In what ways do you think non-First Nations Victorians can contribute to the process of truth-telling and treaty?

By engaging in the process, studying submissions and other comments by First Nations Victorians and by discussing with friends colleagues.

By engaging in the process, studying submissions and other comments by First Nations Victorians and by discussing with friends colleagues.
