What does country mean to you?

Country is culture, Lore, knowledge and life, according to our ancestral ways of knowing, being, doing, caring for country. Looking after all living and non living things. This is common to all Aboriginal people, regardless of mob or origin.

What has happened to your mob and to country because your land was taken?

Loss if rights and access to live with country.

What are some examples of good practices or programs happening on country that could be adopted more widely?

Aboriginal People who are in the process of buying their home/lamd with home/lamd for a home, should be wholey and freely given this. This includes all Traditional custodians and All Aboriginal Victorians, in solidarity. There may have to be some limits and Traditional custodians will always have rights to public and more lands to manage as they can. This does not limit traditional custodians land ownership as they are the traditional “owners of land and should be given as much public and other land to manage as practicable. There may be guidelines such as $/post code, land size of 40hectares etc. This takes banks out of the trauma of living freely on country to support our health and healing from trauma of stolen land.

What changes to laws or attitudes about land, sky and waters would you like to see?
