What has been your experience of the Victorian health system? Have you faced any challenges or barriers to accessing care?

Lack of staffing & staff. Cultural awareness & quality of care linked to reduced staffing.

A 20min Cultural Awareness training isn’t sufficient.

Is the mainstream health system culturally safe for you? Why or why not?

Lack of genuine people centric aged care;

Profit over care

More beds within Indigenous run facilities along with more Indigenous facilities throughout the state, especially regional.

What are examples of good practice or programs happening at ACCHOs that could be adopted more widely across the health sector?

The opposite of this – are we looking at the learnings & progress being made by ACCHO & moving these into aged care

What changes to the current health system would you like to see?

More cultural awareness for staffing/carer’s & organisational education

Genuine insentives for first peoples lead staffing within the age care system.
