What do you know about the colonisation of Victoria and its impacts on First Peoples?

Continuous readings have made me very aware of the wrong doings of the past and the continuous detrimental effects it has on our Indigenous population in Australia. It is an ongoing journey….

What has been your experience learning about First Nations history and culture in Victoria's education system? Do you feel it was comprehensive?

Didn’t grow up here personally but my children have had inconsistent and incomplete readings and cultural workshops… In higher ed ( university) it is as haphazard in my experience…..

What changes would you like to see in Victoria to promote better understanding and respect for First Peoples cultures?

Every RAP should result in direct outcomes for local Indigenous population ie.employment as consultants every Educational RAP should result in RAP related activities for all students…..there is too many people wanting to learn but not having access to truth telling by Indigenous knowledge holders (or critical allies). On a non Indigenous individual level; through creating awareness by attending cultural workshops. on a no- Indigenous business level: Through mandatory educational induction for all.employees, students On societal level: more Ind books on library shelves, more programs through media, etc. Through ongoing media coverage that explains and dispels.misconceptions.
