Ebony
Ebony has learned about the colonisation of Victoria through self-guided learning and community immersion. She notes her daughter's education on First Nations history is lacking in school and suggests a public holiday, anti-racism training, and celebrating modern Aboriginal identity to promote understanding and respect. She also calls for acknowledging past and present human rights violations and promoting First Peoples' history in various public spaces.

a moderate amount that has been entirely learnt through self-guided learning and immersion in Community.
I myself did not complete schooling in Victoria. However, my daughter is currently in year 4 and receives the majority of her education on this topic from her networks and not through the education system. She is often educating the teaching staff about Aboriginal Victoria. Students are receiving a lack lustre education on this topic, have little to no contact with Aboriginal Australians facilitated in school, no Aboriginal flag flown at the school, no visits or excursions to learn about the Country on which the school is built, zero language artwork or songs shared in the school. There is no acknowledgement of a modern identity of Aboriginal Australia in the schooling system.
A public holiday celebrating Aboriginal Victorians. Anti-racism training for all government employees. Celebrate modern identity of Aboriginal Australians, not just Aboriginal history
Acknowledge that slavery existed in Australia Acknowledge that there are human rights violations impacting Aboriginal Australia today.
