Yeah. I mean, there’s obviously lots. I think we’re seeing change. Like, I often think about what these rallies have been. I remember being here 20 years ago, and there was 50 people on the steps of Parliament House. It’s a lot more than that today. And I think about the white kids, the black kids today looking up at their allies, looking up at their mob and growing up with that normalised. Fucking sensational effort from your dad, everyone that’s led – Gary Foley, Lydia’s smashing it. And there’ll be the next generation. They are the next generation.
So I reckon that’s already occurring. But the biggest thing is just the cops just need to 10 fuck off. They need to be completely and utterly reorganised, and they need to stop intimidating, harassing, over-policing, Indigenous communities. Locking blackfellas up. If blackfellas aren’t in jail, then blackfellas can’t die in jail. And that is the number one issue is the trauma, the extended intergenerational trauma of constantly having to grieve whether your cousin dies when you’re inside or whether you die inside and your cousins have to grieve. There is no connection. And the sorry business that needs to happen around that stuff just can’t. And then it goes on and on. So the grandmother’s trauma becomes the grandchild’s trauma.
And so the police need to fucking back off, and they need to get out of our communities and they need to stop locking blackfellas up. And that goes all the way up to magistrates too. And we are seeing, as solicitors – I’ll be getting on the roll in February. I’m a law grad – but we’re seeing changes and like everything, what have we got? Time.
