Jegan Sivanesan

Jegan Sivanesan grew up on Yorta Yorta country in Mooroopna. In his submission he reflects on the lack of education about the rich history and culture of the true owners of this land. Now in his late 30s, he feels a 'deep sadness' for not being able to fully explain Australia's true history to his son and nieces. He calls for honest confrontation of past injustices, mandatory Indigenous history taught in schools and support to increase First Peoples representation in key professions.
