What do you know about the colonisation of Victoria and its impacts on First Peoples?

i know that the period since colonisation is a tiny fraction of the history that came before it. I dont know enough about the violence the came but i understand it was swift and brutal. i know Aboriginal resistance was significant. i understand that the impacts of colonialism are intergenerational.

What has been your experience learning about First Nations history and culture in Victoria's education system? Do you feel it was comprehensive?

Shocking. At best my experience of leaning about first nations history is peace meal. at worst it is virtually non-existent.

What changes would you like to see in Victoria to promote better understanding and respect for First Peoples cultures?

Traditional Owners with power and support to share their histories and culture.

In what ways do you think non-First Nations Victorians can contribute to the process of truth-telling and treaty?

Be open to hearing hard truths. be open to listening and learning and reflecting.

In what ways could First Peoples history and culture be promoted in Victoria?
