Submission Transcription
Being an Aboriginal person in Victoria is a mixed experience depending on where you are. At times, it can be highly empowering and culturally welcoming but it can also be an oppressive and discriminating experience. The hate that I have had displayed towards me because of my heritage has brought me to tears many times.
- The indigenous community is built on respect.
- The hate we experience and are exposed to is unjustified and often passed down and built by stories and lies.
- I would like for people to experience the indigenous community at our best before passing down hatred.
Self-determination is my drive to make changes that I want to see.
I want generational prejudice and racism to be a thing of the past. We are an extremely progressive and forward thinking generation. I want my children to be judged on their character, not culture.
