Premier Allan tells of distress at massacres of First Peoples

"It brings me a sense of shame and distress that [massacres were committed] by people in the pursuit of taking land off First Peoples." Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan tells Yoorrook commissioners of her distress at learning details of the brutality inflicted on First Peoples during colonisation. Premier Allan became the first state leader in Australian history to give evidence before a First Peoples led truth telling commission.
