Raise the Age: Neurocognitive development evidence

The Yoorrook Justice Commission heard empirical evidence from experts in brain development who all argued that raising the age of criminal responsibility aligns with the cognitive development of children.

Deputy Chair Sue-Anne Hunter expressed her deep disappointment, "It is appalling that, weeks after presenting this evidence, the State has reneged on their commitments.”

Truth-teller consent

First Peoples who make submissions to Yoorrook have provided their consent for the Commission to use their submission for the purposes of conducting Yoorrook’s work. Ownership of First Peoples’ submissions remains with the author of the submission. Their permission may be required to use their submission for any other purposes.
