Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) is an Aboriginal community organisation responsible for managing over 1,500 rental properties for Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander people living in Victoria.
This submission is a video (and transcript) of Gunditjmara man and AHV board member Damien Bell and Palawa man and CEO of AHV Darren Smith discussing the importance of homes and housing, the impact of dispossession on Aboriginal people, the limitations of Native Title and Traditional Owner Settlement Acts, and the challenges facing First Peoples seeking housing.
